Welcome to the Kenwood poetry blog!

This blog showcases the original poetry of some of Kenwood Academy High School's Senior Class.

The diversity of the student body is mirrored in the diversity of the poetry; some poems are lighthearted and others are quite personal and serious. While the poems incorporate a variety of styles and themes, they are all inspired by the poetry that we've studied in class.

An Act Of Life

How can you make love
Without even being in love
I know how
But not from experience of course
It’s called lust
It involves no trust
It’s quite dangerous
In this day and age
Not only for your health
But for your heart
How can you make one feel so good
Then afterwards you misunderstood
But once again it’s called lust
It involves no trust
Just sex
Maybe just maybe with an ex
Its actions aren’t true
Nor is it pure
It’s a selfless thing
And act of physical attraction

But when you love someone
Time stands still
When you’re with them
All you see is them
No one else in the world matters
All you have is laughter
Of joy, hope, and happiness
No worries once so ever
Just love always and forever

Then there are the times when love has a test
Can your relationship outshine the rest
The trust, lust, loyalty, love and hope
Are all tested
Will you pass or fail
No one can ever quite tell
There are those who always say never
But cant never. Ever
Learn to love
Those are the ones who make love without love
They’ve given up on love
Given up on their selves

Love is like a flower, or a tree
You plant it
Water it
And hope for the best
Things that are meant to be
Will come trust me
I found my flower, I found my tree
Well, I mine as well say
Love found me
