Welcome to the Kenwood poetry blog!

This blog showcases the original poetry of some of Kenwood Academy High School's Senior Class.

The diversity of the student body is mirrored in the diversity of the poetry; some poems are lighthearted and others are quite personal and serious. While the poems incorporate a variety of styles and themes, they are all inspired by the poetry that we've studied in class.

The Red Scarf

A man by the name of Mr. Monte
A wealthy man was he
Sported nothing but suits by armani
And of shoes that shined to the D

Dined luxuriously at the finest cafes
for a man that had everything he wanted
but to have love never set his way
until set eyes upon beauty taunted

she was a woman by the name of Mrs. Norwood
a wealthy woman also was she
wanted nothing but a man she could call good
met that man, Mr. Monte was he

Where they met?, at the Patou Cafe
where Mr. Monte set eyes upon thee
not ever will he forget the day
when Mrs. Norwood became Mrs. Monte

he sat calmly observing her from the bar
she sat curiously at the mysterious man from afar
she sported a complimentary scarf around her neck
claimed to cover a scar from a recent car accident

later to be married as husband and wife
he'd never escaped why she'd always wear that scarf
until oneday, he snuck and withheld a knife
and discovered more than was suspected to be a scar

there as he krept, her head fled to the floor
a look on his face of dread and awe
a voice of betrayal trailed out of the door
left his face pail, with wide open jaws

This poem reminds me of a story, it hooks me in and makes me want more. Very good way of using big strong words. Great overall poem.
