being only four
taken away from her mother
gives her homes the reasons
to be treated separately from the others
from her brother, to her sister
to have whom never loved her
thought nothing much of life
than that life was bitter
her life was of desecration
a weary victim of castigation
she was
and if ever you meet her today
trust nothing of what meets the eye
she seems of nothing but bright and gay
but her pain still resides inside
in her eyes beholds a cryptic past
a hidden hope that it would never last
in her eyes, there tells of her story
pain, that she'd yet failed to bury
strong, to have held it for years
her story became her greatest fear
telling it hurt
like a shot to the heart
her eyes bled with tears
every time told,
was continuation of relief
and every time told,
she'd doubt that hope will ever be

Welcome to the Kenwood poetry blog!
This blog showcases the original poetry of some of Kenwood Academy High School's Senior Class.
The diversity of the student body is mirrored in the diversity of the poetry; some poems are lighthearted and others are quite personal and serious. While the poems incorporate a variety of styles and themes, they are all inspired by the poetry that we've studied in class.

Her feelings about her situation were emphasized perfectly in the poem and it made you understand the point she was trying to express about the experience.
